PROJECT CAPEX/OPEX ESTIMATION
Concept and Feasibility Studies
CDI assists our clients in the initial planning stages of a project by producing conceptual and feasibility level design and estimating project CAPEX/OPEX.
Our Typical SOW includes
- Route Selection- The three-dimensional modeling of the route topography enables CDI to optimize civil works and the placement of elevated or ground-level steel support structures. Path optimization allows for comparison of design options to reduce cut and fill activities, eliminate material transfer points by proper placement of horizontal and vertical curves, and reduce potential conflicts with environmentally or politically sensitive neighbors. All this in turn reduces the final cost of capital (CAPEX) and the operating cost (OPEX) of the conveyor system.
- Design Basis- Including General Material Handling Design Criteria, Production Requirements, Climate, Site Specific Specifications
- Estimate Basis- Crew rates, Commodity Rates, Labor Rates, Currency Conversions
- Basic Engineering- Typically, in this stage of the project, basic engineer includes a static analysis of the conveyor. It can also include a Discrete Event Simulation (DES) of the system if there are many pieces of equipment included in the study.
- Site Visit- This is not always required. Typically we only visit the site if there are complex land ownership issues to be considered.
- Study Drawings- The number of study drawing varies, depending on the accuracy the client requires. At a minimize, a site plan and equipment elevation drawing will be included.
- Study Report- A report sumarizing the basic engineering design as well as the estimated CAPEX and OPEX.
